Made its Olympic debut at the 1936 Garmisch-Partenkirchen Games with a men's and women's combined event, featuring a downhill and two slalom runs.

Is a sporting event that goes back to exercise for Norwegian soldiers. They took part in a contest called military patrol. The competition was popular in the first half of the XX century. The team consisted of the senior officer who headed the patrol, junior officer and two common soldiers.

The officer had the pistol, but he did not take part in shooting. Every participant had also a back pack with him. Biathlon as we know it nowadays became a part of the Olympic Games official program in the 1960.

Became the fastest growing winter sports in US in 2000 and now the competitions are held in international levels as an Olympic sport.

Was a demonstration event at the 1988 Winter Olympic in Calgary. Mogul skiing was added as an official medal event at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, and the aerials event was added for the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer.

The half-pipe competition takes place in a bowl-shaped course dug deep into the hill. Using speed gained on the slope, snowboarders come up over the rim of the pipe and perform acrobatic aerial tricks. The object of the half-pipe is to perform difficult tricks with perfect form.
